Green Development
Simply said Green Development involves working with the land and not against it. We solve problems using thought and patience to obtain the desired result. Intelligently using what is at hand to enhance the natural beauty of the property.
We follow a course that results in minimal waste sawmilling and drying cut timber on site and marketing firewood and pulp wood from what remains. What is left is shredded and used for mulch. Most development is done as quickly as possible for economic reasons and the impact on the environment is often harsh. Marketable timber is hauled to sawmills and oil or natural gas kilns are used for drying. In short we strive for a small carbon footprint, while conventional development has a much larger carbon footprint.
We have a policy of what originates here stays and is used here. We don’t bury boulders that we dig up, and can’t use immediately, and then bring in boulders later when we need them to landscape a house. Fill that is excavated is used on site. In most developments excess fill is hauled away, and when fill is needed it is hauled in, expensive and energy intensive coming and going.
