Green Lifestyle

Value in homes involves many factors beginning with location in a given area, the quality of the community and the quality of the surrounding homes. Homes that use more energy than necessary hurt both the pocket book and the environment. Many builders talk green but the product often falls short of the mark.

A green home may be of any design, but requires a commitment by the builder that few are willing to make. Again it will take longer and cost more, but it is an investment that will pay substantial dividends for the life of the home. We design the structure to be as energy efficient as possible and then use geothermal heat pumps for heating and cooling, with a heat recovery system to recover up to 80% of the heat content of any exhausted air. Energy bills are not likely to be a major concern.

We are also installing solar hot water heating to cover up to 80% of the hot water needs of the home. Our garages have receptacles for plug in hybrid vehicles and are gas piped for the installation of a home compressor for fueling of CNG vehicles. We also offer photovoltaic roof panels should a homeowner want to further reduce their carbon footprint.

We are committed to reducing waste associated with building and have close by warehousing to store leftover and usable scrap materials. Scrap sheetrock is used as a soil amendment. The timber we have cut and dried on the property is processed into trim and flooring. Most of the trim and flooring used in the houses built to date is from the property.
